How will Martian research impact life on Earth?
Drawing on current research from Imperial College London’s Space Lab, this workshop invited participants to prototype objects to imagine alternative futures relating to research into Mars.
This workshop explored how we can visualise peoples' contributions to a creative process. Can short interactions build to inform a larger set of ideas and visions for the future? Are these ideas relevant and useful to the researchers themselves?
Attendees were inspired by a series of conflicting prompts consisting of historical martian research, current research, and speculation, based on conversations with Imperial College scientists,
Adapting The Experiential Futures Ladder (Candy and Dunagan 2016) participants designed Scenarios, Newspaper Headlines, Stories, and then Objects from futures influenced by current scientific research.
Ideas were linked with string to visualise their evolution and the tangible impact of each person's contribution towards a larger vision.
